Wade Wilson and Logan's Unlikely Friendship Takes Center Stage in Marvel's Latest Series
The infamous Weapon X program turned Wade Wilson and Logan into formidable killing machines, but the Merc with a Mouth and the feral mutant have since transformed into an unbreakable duo, forming an unlikely yet endearing friendship. This summer's blockbuster film and the eight-part limited series, Deadpool/Wolverine: Weapon X-Traction, set the stage for their next adventure together.
Renowned writer Benjamin Percy, known for his work on X-Force, and artist Joshua Cassera, a veteran of X-Men, are reuniting the dynamic duo in the new ongoing series, Deadpool/Wolverine. When asked about the inspiration behind the series, Percy revealed that the film was just one of many factors that influenced their approach. "We started working on this series long before the Marvel movie hit theaters," he explained. "However, fans of the film will recognize the same thrilling, action-packed dynamic between the characters that made it a hit."
Percy and Cassera drew inspiration from R-rated '80s action classics, such as Commando and Rambo: First Blood Part II, to create a series that embodies the spirit of non-stop thrills and insane action set-pieces. "We wanted to capture the essence of a gonzo '80s action movie," Percy said. "Imagine Stallone, Schwarzenegger, or Van Damme as a guest star in any of these issues – that's the vibe we're going for."
Marvel has unveiled the first look at the premiere issue of Deadpool/Wolverine, which promises to deliver the same level of high-octane action and humor that fans have come to expect from the Merc with a Mouth and the feral mutant. Mark your calendars for January 1, 2025, when Deadpool/Wolverine #1 hits the shelves from Marvel Comics.
