Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered Addresses Fan Backlash with Statue Change
In a win for dedicated fans, the upcoming remastered release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 has made a notable change to a statue that sparked controversy among the gaming community. The title, set to launch on December 10 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, has been tweaked to bring the statue more in line with its original appearance.
A Community-Driven Change
When the remastered edition was announced in September, excitement among PlayStation enthusiasts was palpable. However, as the initial buzz wore off, a growing concern emerged regarding the statue's design in the remaster. According to fans who spoke out against the change, the statue's updated look appeared less feminine than its original counterpart. This criticism eventually caught the attention of the development team, who has since revised the statue to better match its original form.
Addressing the Controversy
Director Raina Audron has acknowledged the change, implying that the statue was always a work in progress. While it's unclear whether the final product was the original vision or a direct response to fan complaints, the update has been well-received by the community. As Audron explained:
"One of the things to notice there at the end is that the statue that has caused so many complaints among certain compartments of the fandom has been reworked. As you get with trailers these days, it [the statue] was indeed a work in progress and things have continued to be work on."
