However, things take a turn when a pair of kids approach the table, and one of them asks Tails, "Are you Detective Pikachu?" Knuckles finds the comparison hilarious, noting that Tails "does look like a Pokémon!" Tails, on the other hand, is less enthused about the remark.

The reference to Detective Pikachu is amusing, especially considering the connection between the two movie franchises. Prior to March 2020, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu held the record for the highest-grossing video game adaptation, only to be broken by the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie a few weeks later.
