No PS5 Pro Upgrade Planned for Cyberpunk 2077

The PS5 Pro launched earlier this month, bringing with it a slew of upgrades to popular games on the platform. While many third-party titles have received patches to take advantage of the new hardware, one major game has been ruled out for an upgrade: Cyberpunk 2077.

Notable Upgrades and Community Requests

Games like Baldur's Gate 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Alan Wake 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Resident Evil 4, and Hogwarts Legacy have all received upgrades for the PS5 Pro. However, the community has been vocal about which other titles they'd like to see receive similar treatment. Unfortunately, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be one of them.

CD Projekt Red Moves On

In a recent interaction on X, CD Projekt Red stated that it has "no plans for [a] PS5 Pro patch" for Cyberpunk 2077. The developer has largely shifted its focus to other projects, including The Witcher 4 and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. As a result, work on the game has been considered complete, with no intention of revisiting it to optimize for the latest PlayStation console.

A Missed Opportunity for a High-Profile Title

Cyberpunk 2077 would have been a prime candidate for a PS5 Pro upgrade, given its massive player base and the game's performance issues at launch. With nearly 30 million copies sold across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, a significant portion of the game's audience on PS5 would have benefited from an upgrade. However, it seems that opportunity will not be pursued by CD Projekt Red.

Room for Improvement Remains

While the base version of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 has improved significantly since its launch in 2020, there is still room for optimization, particularly when compared to the game's PC version. This news may come as a disappointment to fans who were hoping for further enhancements, but it appears that CD Projekt Red will not revisit the project unless circumstances change in the future.
