The Call of Duty franchise, renowned for its rich history and immense popularity, is gearing up to revisit a classic map from one of its earliest installments. With over 20 games in the series, hundreds of millions of copies sold, and a plethora of gaming memories, Call of Duty has evolved significantly since its inception. From its World War II roots to modern-day and futuristic settings, the series has continually pushed the boundaries of first-person shooter gameplay.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 takes players back to the 1990s, introducing an innovative movement system called "omnimovement" that allows for diving, sliding, and sprinting in any direction. Despite the game's departure from its earlier formula, fans still hold a strong nostalgic affinity for the series' classic entries. In an effort to tap into this nostalgia, Activision often incorporates throwbacks and Easter eggs into its games.

One such discovery was made by Call of Duty player M3RKMUS1C, who utilized the game's spectator mode to explore out-of-bounds areas in Black Ops 6\\. What they found was the general design of Courtyard, an iconic map from Call of Duty: World at War, which was later remade as Dig in Black Ops 2\\. A low-resolution version of the map can be found outside of Skyline, one of the new maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

The discovery has sparked speculation about the potential return of Courtyard as a multiplayer map. Given Call of Duty's history of reviving classic maps as post-launch content, it's possible that Courtyard could make a comeback. Alternatively, the map could be part of the next Warzone map, with fans noting that Warzone often features iconic Call of Duty maps as points of interest.

While the exact purpose of Courtyard's inclusion in Black Ops 6 remains uncertain, it's possible that Treyarch has carved out a portion of the map for the game's multiplayer mode. With a new Warzone map potentially launching in season one, which is likely to kick off in December, fans may soon have their answers. However, as with all things Call of Duty, only time will tell if Courtyard will make a triumphant return or remain a hidden relic.
