Xbox Game Pass Gets Boost with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Addition

This December is shaping up to be an exciting month for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, with the impending release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. However, things just got even sweeter for fans of racing games. Xbox has confirmed that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be added to the service on December 4th, providing a fresh new title to enjoy.

At this time, there are no further details available, and it's unclear whether the game will be accessible through Cloud Gaming or just console. Nevertheless, based on its predecessor's experience (Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which was added to Xbox Game Pass in August), it's likely that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled will be available through both Cloud and console.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled: A Fresh Classic

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a remastered version of the original Crash Team Racing, released in 2019 for various platforms, including Xbox One. This mascout kart racer boasts new features like online play and new modes. Players can enjoy a vast array of characters, including some from the beloved Spyro franchise. With an 84 score on Metacritic, the Xbox One version received largely positive reviews from critics.

A Growing Library of Activision Blizzard Games on Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard in late 2023 has been slowly but surely bearing fruit. Although the transition to majority Game Pass ownership has taken time, Microsoft has consistently added more titles from Activision's catalog to the service. This includes:

  • Crash Bandicoot games, such as N. Sane Trilogy
  • Multiple Call of Duty titles
  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  • Speculation about older Activision games, including Transformers titles, being released on Game Pass

What's Next for Xbox Game Pass Subscribers?

With the next addition of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, Xbox is expected to build on its ongoing additions to the service. Older titles from Activision's back catalog, such as The Wrath of Cortex (released on the original Xbox), could potentially round out the collection. Some of the titles on the roadmap include:

  • Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, a well-received game from 2020 upon its release
  • A potential new entry from developer Toys for Bob that may be published by Xbox Game Studios - although no confirmation has been made about its status as a Crash Bandicoot or Spyro game.
